Ex-Pope Principal Leaves Cobb Schools

Rick Beaulieu has accepted an administrative post with Atlanta Public Schools.

Only a year into his job as an area assistant superintendent with the Cobb County School District, Rick Beaulieu is leaving.

The former Pope High School principal will become the executive director of the human resources center of expertise for the Atlanta Public Schools, according to a report in The Marietta Daily Journal

Beaulieu left Pope after the 2012-13 school year to assume responsibility for 18 schools in the West Cobb area.

The MDJ report quoted Cobb school superintendent Michael Hinojosa as saying that Beaulieu may have been offered a higher salary.

“But it’s typically been a pattern that other districts can pay more than we can pay. It’s tough trying to hang on to good people," Hinojosa told the newspaper.

In addition to serving at Pope, Beaulieu also was a teacher at Lassiter High School.
