Eight East Cobb Schools Top State CRCT Average

Eastvalley Elementary's fourth-graders post a big improvement on the math test.

Students from , Garrison Mill, , , Shallowford Falls, , and Tritt elementary schools each bettered the state average percentage of students who either met or exceeded the standard on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT), reported the Georgia Department of Education Wednesday.

The showing followed the Cobb County School District’s strong effort at the system-level as it topped the state average in 29 of the 30 content areas tested from third-grade to eighth-grade.

The CRCT measures students abilities in reading, English/language arts, math, science and social studies. Students in third-, fifth- and eighth-grade must meet or exceed the grade requirements on the CRCT in reading to advance according to state law. Fifth- and eighth-grade students also need to meet or exceed expectations on the CRCT in mathematics to move on to the next grade.
