Eastvalley Parents to Meet With Banks

They oppose the Cobb school board member's consolidation proposal.

Last week East Cobb Patch reported that Cobb Board of Education member David Banks proposed consolidating Eastvalley Elementary School with Powers Ferry Elementary School without consulting anyone in either school community.

Eastvalley parents sounded off and organized a letter-writing campaign to school board members. Eric Stein, a parent of two daughters at Eastvalley who's begun an effort to oppose the plan, contacted East Cobb Patch Wednesday evening to stay that a meeting has been scheduled with Banks at the school next Wednesday.

That meeting with what he's dubbed the Eastvalley Elementary Advocacy Alliance will begin will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

While he's asked parents to contact school board members to express their concerns, he also issued this request:

"Please remember, this campaign will not be productive if the communications are negative or accusatory . . .

"We all work hard to support and nurture the Eastvalley spirit. That spirit is a positive, determined spirit with a can-do attitude."
