Eastvalley Elementary School Wins Cobb Science Olympiad

Elementary school teams from Sedalia Park, Mt. Bethel, East Side, Ford, and Kincaid also qualify for the state competition in May.

Eastvalley Elementary School recently won first place overall out of 30 teams in the Cobb County Regional Science Olympiad competition.

Eastvalley got the highest overall score with 412 total points, followed by Sedalia Park, Mt. Bethel, East Side, Ford, and Kincaid.

Those six teams will move on to the state competition in May.

Elementary Science Olympiad events take advantage of the natural curiosity of each child, and allow for in-depth hands-on experiences.

The Eastvalley individual winners included:

1st Place medals:

Grab a Gram: Jared Loncar and AJ Mattox

Paper Rockets: Westby Slade and Aubrey Ward

3rd Place Medals:

Starry Starry Night: AJ Mattox and Leo Jokay

Water Rockets: William Hestad, Devon Walcott, and Austin Norman

4th Place Ribbons:

Deep Blue Sea: Rain Koay and Austin Norman

Don’t Bug Me: Leo Jokay and Amanda Guitierrez

6h Place Ribbons:

Bridge Building: Sam Bowers and Akio Shipton

Disease Detectives: Scarlett Favro and Jake Jones

7th Place Ribbons:

Weather or Not: Aubrey Ward and Rhea Baghel

Straw Tower: Jared Loncar and Amanda Gutierrez

Map Reading: Rhea Baghel and Charlie Waugaman

9th Place Ribbons:

Simple Machines: Armstrong Tang and Matthew Hestad

What Went by: Armstrong Tang and Matthew Hestad

10th Place Ribbons:

Rock Hounds: Rain Koay and Scarlett Favro
