East Cobbers Earn Emory Degrees

The diplomas range from the two-year Oxford College program to MBAs, MDs and other advanced degrees.

A number of East Cobb residents earned degrees from Emory University in Atlanta at its 167th commencement ceremony on May 14.

From the Goizueta Business School, Vignesh Narayanaswamy received a bachelor of business administration. Earning Masters of Business Adminstration degrees from East Cobb were Adam Bittner, Kevin Combs, Jan Hochfeld and Padmakar Kankipati.

Receiving Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees from the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing include:

  • Thasha Chu, Victoria Halle and Jennifer Robbins. 

Earning Doctor of Law Degrees from the Emory School of Law were: 

  • Adam Sinton and Andrea Wood.

Receiving Doctor of Medicine Degrees from the Emory School of Medicine were Jessica Dyke and Maya Nair. Rachel Berry of East Cobb received a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Jessica Shade of East Cobb received a Master of Divinity from the Candler School of Theology, and Jonathan Cooper received a Master of Theological Studies degree. 

The following East Cobb students earned Master of Public Health degrees from the Rollins School of Public Health:

  • Kevin Humphries Jr., Victoria Sumner and James Walker.

The following East Cobb students received bachelors degrees from Emory College, Emory's undergraduate, liberal arts and sciences college: 

  • Tomoko Namura, Cuibo Zhou, Arsalan Derakhshan, Karim Lalani, Abby Leathers, Amy Li, Kara Nester, Monique Osigbeme, Thomas Thompson, Annelies Carl, Stephan Fraher, Nathan Gordon, Suk Lee and Anda Lopazan. 

Several East Cobb students were named to the spring 2012 semester Dean's List at Emory College. Students must be in the top 20 percent or have a 3.859 grade point average or higher:

  • Scott Berger, Kapil Bhatia, Alice Bottoms, Annelies Carl, Arsalan Derakhshan, Stephan Fraher, Anda Lopazan, Kevin Ma, Christopher Naber, Mina Naguib, Tomoko Namura and Thomas Thompson.

Two East Cobb students received associate of arts degrees at Oxford College, Emory's two-year liberal arts undergraduate campus in Oxford, Ga., near Covington in Newton County:

  • Theresa Lee and Susan Shoaf. 

The following East Cobb students were named to Oxford College's spring 2012 semester Honor List, for students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher:

  • JaeYoung Choi, Shilpa Jhol, Kyung-Ran Lim and Andrea Kerby.

The following East Cobbers were named to the Oxford College 2012 spring Merit List. Students must earn a grade point average of 3.0 or higher:

  • Anna Eckley, Kendall Hines, Kevin Kline, Theresa Lee and Fiza Pirani.
