East Cobb Week in Review, May 16-22

A new Cobb schools superintendent and spring football scrimmages top the headlines.

1. Cobb BOE names Hinojosa superintendent finalist—Dallas schools chief Michael Hinojosa was announced as the only choice to succeed the retiring Fred Sanderson. Hinojosa just signed a contract extension with the Texas district in September. 

2. Hightower Trail council speaks out—The school council at the East Cobb middle school sent an unprecedented letter to the Cobb school board, urging it to improve the way it does business. The trigger was the still- heated school calendar issue.

3. Pope tennis, Walton academic teams honored—The East Cobb students were recognized by the Cobb school board for their achievements on the court and in the classroom.
