East Cobb School Is the 'Epitome of Excellence'

Two other Cobb schools were also singled out for their gains.

East Cobb's Garrison Mill Elementary today was named one of 28 Georgia Schools of Excellence in Student Achievement and will receive a $1,000 check from Georgia Natural Gas to be used however school officials wish.

The Marietta Center for Advanced Academics earned a "highest performance" designation based on its College and Career Ready Performance Index, according to a release from the Georgia Department of Education. It was the only school in the Marietta system to make the list.

In addition to Garrison Mill, two other Cobb schools were also singled out for their gains. Kennesaw Charter and King Springs Elementary made the "highest progress" list.

"These schools are the epitome of excellence,” Superintendent John Barge said in a statement. “Their focus on areas that impact student success is evident across the board.”
