East Cobb PTA Council to Hold School Funding Forum
Cobb school superintendent Michael Hinojosa and school board members will appear Dec. 4 at East Side Elementary School.
Cobb school superintendent Michael Hinojosa will serve as a panelist on school funding topics next month at a forum sponsored by the East Cobb County Council of PTA.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at East Side Elementary School, 3850 Roswell Road, in East Cobb.
Cobb school board chairman Randy Scamihorn and East Cobb-area school board representatives Scott Sweeney and David Banks also will be speak on the issue and answer questions.

The meeting is the latest organized by East Cobb groups to address the CCSD's projected $79 million budget deficit for fiscal year 2015.
Last week, the Walton PTSA held a similar meeting in an effort to educate parents and lobby elected officials.

On Dec. 12, FACE It Cobb, created by East Cobb parents to address school funding issues, also will have a meeting about the issue at the Infomart, 1582 Terrell Mill Road.
That meeting takes place from 8-9:30 a.m. and the featured speakers are Claire Suggs, Senior Education Policy Analyst, Georgia Budget & Policy Institute; Hilda Wilkins, Retired Principal, Hightower Trail Middle School; and Matt Jones, Empower Ed Co-Founder and President, EmpowerEd Georgia.
