Cobb Vote on Replacement Elementary Schools Delayed
The school board has received "an extensive amount of new information" about potential reconstruction projects.
The Cobb Board of Education is putting off its decision on elementary school reconstruction projects until January.
After returning from a nearly three-hour executive session Wednesday, board chairman Randy Scamihorn said the delay was prompted due to "an extensive amount of new information" that has come in that was "unknown to the board."
He did not elaborate, but the board was believed to be discussing property matters related to potential school relocation sites during the executive session.
For several months, parents and students at East Cobb's Mountain View and Brumby elementary schools, and at Harmony Leland Elementary in Mableton, have been heavily lobbying the school board for new buildings.
But the board is to choose only two new projects from six possible options with funding to come from the Cobb Education SPLOST IV, which will be collected from 2014-2018.
