Cobb Kindergarten Registration Starts Today

1. Registration for kindergarten begins today in the Cobb County School District, and there's quite a list of things for parents to do and know before they can sign up their children for the fall. 

There's information here about enrollment, identification and immunization requirements, a bus route finder, online forms to fill out, other documents and instructions and information in Spanish. 

2. Time is running out for parents to order Final Exam Survivor Kits for Walton High School students. These goodie bags include snacks, bottled water and a personal note of encouragement to students as they bear down for their tests.

The kits are $10 per student and can be ordered online. The proceeds will benefit the Walton Facilities Foundation. All orders must be postmarked no later than April 25. 

3. The Wheeler Winter Guard dance team, which finished second recently in the Chattahoochee Competition, will perform this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. It's the sendoff performance before the team competes in the state Southern Association for Performing Arts event in Macon on Saturday.

4. Registration is underway for the 26th annual Sope Creek Fun Run on Saturday, April 30. The 5K race and 1-mile fun run costs $23 per person and the proceeds benefit Sope Creek Elementary School Foundation programs. 

5. The East Cobb County Council of PTAs is encouraging parent and student participation in the Mothers & Others for Clean Air program, which promotes outdoor activities for children and other efforts to reduce pollution at the community level. For more information call 404-313-1779.
