Water Main Break Near Pope High School

Some residences have been affected and a portion of Hembree Road has been closed for most of today.

Update, 10:45 pm. 

The single lane of Hembree Road is expected to be closed until around midnight and is expected to be open by Friday morning, according to a Tweet from Cobb County Government at 10:30 p.m.

Update, 5:40 p.m.

Cobb County Government indicated that one lane of Hembree Road near Meadow Drive will be closed until around 9 p.m. tonight.

A water main break near Pope High School today has affected traffic on Hembree Road and cut off water service to some nearby residences. 

Cobb County Government spokesman Robert Quigley told East Cobb Patch shortly after 1 p.m. today that service to around 36 residences has been affected since around noon, when a six-inch break occurred on a main on Hembree Road. 

The accident also shut down traffic on Hembree Road for a while. 

The affected area of Hembree Road is near Meadow Drive, and just north of the Pope campus.

Quigley said there is not an estimated time for the completion of the repairs.
