TSPLOST Forum Set for East Cobb

Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott is the host for a town hall meeting on July 23 at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church.

Representatives from a variety of organizations and perspectives on the upcoming TSPLOST referendum have been invited to gather in East Cobb later this month for a town hall meeting.

District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott will be the host for the July 23 event, scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at , 4385 Lower Roswell Road.

The town hall takes place the week before the July 31 referendum on the Transportation Investment Act, which will be decided by metro Atlanta voters, including those in Cobb.

Untie Atlanta, one of the leading groups in favor of the penny sales tax, will be represented by Chuck Clay, a former legislator from Cobb and a partner with the Brock Clay law firm in Marietta, and Terry Lawler, executive director of the Regional Business Coalition.

Also participating will be TSPLOST opponents Ron Sifen, a transportation activist from the Smyrna-Vinings area, and State Rep. Ed Setzler, chairman of the Cobb legislative delegation who attempted to delay the referendum.

For more information on the town hall meeting, call 770-528-3316.

TSPLOST is NOT a "penny sales tax". It is a penny-on-every-dollar you spend sales & use tax increase, which equals a 14-17% sales & use tax INCREASE. Every reporter who calls it a "penny sales tax" is guilty of misleading the public. http://www.traffictruth.net/index.php/2012/07/whats-wrong-with-our-news-media/

This penny tax will serve to improve the traffic infrastructure in the region. Careful attention has not been paid to our cities roadways since the Olympics. Also, not only will residents be paying into the referendum but tourists who come into the area and buy goods will be paying for it as well.
