Special House Election Set for Tuesday

Voters will choose from five Republican candidates in the District 43 race to succeed the late state Rep. Bobby Franklin.

Voters in state House District 43 will choose from five Republican candidates Tuesday in a special election to fill the vacancy created by the July death of . 

A total of 14 precincts in Northeast Cobb and East Cobb will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (see attached PDFs for a sample ballot, district map and list of polling stations).

If no candidate receives a majority of the vote, there will be a runoff Oct. 18 between the top two vote-getters.

The candidates held last week at in which they essentially agreed on a conservative agenda.

Last week a poll conducted for The Marietta Daily Journal indicated that Carson led Lamutt in a tight race, with nearly a third of all resopondents undecided. 

The winner will serve out the remainder of Franklin's term, which expires at the end of 2012.
