Special House Election Is Tuesday

John Carson and Robert Lamutt are in a runoff to succeed the late state Rep. Bobby Franklin.

Voters in state House District 43 will choose from two Republican candidates Tuesday in a special election runoff to fill the vacancy created by the July death of .

First-time candidate John Carson, an accountant with SunTrust Bank, edged out Lamutt, a former state senator, in the September special election for state House District 43.

A total of 14 precincts in Northeast Cobb and East Cobb will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (see attached PDFs for a sample ballot, a district map and list of polling stations).

According to Beth Kish, registration manager at the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration, 30,076 registered voters are eligible for the election.

There were 155 mailed ballots and 103 in-office ballots totaling 258 total votes cast during last week's early voting, according to the Board of Elections.

Registered voters may cast ballots in Tuesday's runoff even if they skipped the special election last month.
