Shallowford/Shiloh Road Project Continues
Here's a summary of road construction and maintenance projects around East Cobb.
If you regularly travel on Shallowford Road and Shiloh Road between Canton Road and Wade Green Road, you know you've been asked to be patient in recent months.
And that patience will be necessary for several more months as a major overhaul of the corridor continues. The Shallowford/Shiloh project includes adding a center turn lane, additional right turn lanes, increased capacity at major intersections, bike friendly lanes and sidewalks.
There's no work being done this weekend on that project or sidewalk installation on Shallowford. But starting Monday, when work resumes, you can expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday as the contractor continues grading operations, placing curb, guardrail work, and roadway base construction.
Here's the latest on other East Cobb road work projects in progress, with information released Friday by District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell and District 2 Commissioner Bob Ott:
Shallowford Road Sidewalk Construction
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Dec. 7-8.
- Tanbark Place to Blackwell Road - Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor continues final dressing and grassing.
Old Sewell Road Sidewalks Construction
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Dec. 7-8.
- Holt Road to Old Canton Road - Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor begins wall construction and continues grading, installing storm drainage, and water main. Utilities will be relocating services.
Road Resurfacing**
Asphalt paving operations - which include lane closures though one lane will remain open at all times - are **scheduled next week (Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13) on the following road: EXPECT DELAYS
• Sewell Mill Road from Roswell Road to Johnson Ferry Road
** The above scheduled work is subject to change due to weather or construction progress.
Roswell Road (SR120) Construction - Update from GDOT
Providence Road to Robinson Road - Periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times.

Lower Roswell Road Construction
Contractor is not planning to work this weekend – Dec. 7 and 8.

- Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway – Monday, Dec. 9, through Friday, Dec. 13. This section of Lower Roswell Road is substantially complete. Contractor is working on punch list.
- Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road – Monday, Dec. 9 through Friday, Dec. 13. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Willow Point Parkway and Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open. Contractor will continue wall construction on Lower Roswell Road and concrete work and grading for the new roundabout. Utility companies continue to relocate services. EXPECT DELAYS
