Mabry Park Preview Scheduled

The citizens group advocating development of the Northeast Cobb property is inviting the public to the Nov. 5 event.

Members of the citizens group  along with  will host a park preview at Mabry Park on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Friends of Mabry Park is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that was formed by local citizens to raise money to create the elements of the park.

Tour guides will show visitors the vision for Mabry Park as depicted in the . Some of those amenities will include walking trails, a playground, a pond and a community garden. The preview will include walking tours, kids activities and a K-9 demonstration.

Residents are encouraged to park at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 4495 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta. Cobb County shuttles will take residents to the park from the church.

Cobb County purchased the 26.5 acres near the corner of Sandy Plains Road and Wesley Chapel Road in May 2008 from Ed and Sue Mabry Harris.

The park land is currently not accessible except for special events such as the park preview.

Mabry Park, a Cobb County parks and recreation facility, is located at the corner of Sandy Plains and Wesley Chapel Roads.
