Update: Jewelry Store Wins Zoning Vote

Igrar won the Planning Commission's unanimous recommendation for approval of the rezoning Tuesday.

The 5-0 vote, sending the matter on to the in two weeks, came after Igrar representative Shashank Anand made the point that the retail jewelry store will not do any pawning or consignment, The Marietta Daily Journal said.

The Cobb County planning staff is recommending approval of a jewelry store’s rezoning request on northern Johnson Ferry Road in East Cobb.

Building owner Igrar LLC needs rezoning from NS (neighborhood shopping) to NRC (neighborhood retail center) to allow a retail storefront at 2965 Johnson Ferry Rd.

Northeast Cobb resident Igrar Mamedov owns Igrar and jewelry store Best of Time International, which specializes in luxury watches and opened on Shallowford Road in East Cobb a year ago. The jewelry store’s website already uses the Johnson Ferry Road address.

If approved, the store will fill a space that most recently was a My Gym children’s gym but was a jewelry store about 20 years ago. A doctor’s office will remain in the other half of the building.

The proposal is on the agenda for today’s meeting of the county Planning Commission, which starts at 9 a.m. at the at 100 Cherokee St.

The Igrar case is the only East Cobb Patch item on the agenda.
