Isakson Proposal Gets Community Look

The son of the U.S. senator will speak to the East Cobb Civic Association July 31 about plans for a major senior residential complex.

Isakson Living's plans for a high-density senior residential complex adjacent to East Cobb Park is slated to begin with initial rezoning consideration next month.

Before that, the development company with ties to U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson of East Cobb will be making its pitch to the influential East Cobb Civic Association.

Kevin Isakson, the son of the senator and Isakson Living's sales and marketing director, will be the guest speaker at the civic group's monthly meeting on July 31.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the East Cobb Government Services Center, 4400 Lower Roswell Road.

The $200 million Isakson Living facility would consist of nearly 1,000 residential units, most of them for independent living, on a 54-acre tract next to East Cobb Park that is currently owned by Wylene Tritt.

The proposal is identified as Z-43 by the Cobb Planning Department (initial filing documents here). The rezoning seeks a change from the current residential (R-20) designation to continuing care retirement community (CCRC).

Surrounding neighborhoods are single family subdivisions zoned at much lower density levels -- R-4 and R-15.
