The longtime East Cobb civic and education activist will be challenging State Rep. Matt Dollar.

Hallacy has been a registered education lobbyist at the Georgia Capitol and currently is the legislative chair for the Walton High School PTSA. She also has served in various legislative- and lobbying-related capacities with the East Cobb County Council of PTAs, the Georgia PTA, the Cobb Board of Education and the East Cobb Civic Association.

“I look forward to an engaging campaign, where an honest dialogue regarding the future of our state and community can take place," Hallacy said in a statement.

“I have been encouraged by community leaders all over the district to take this step for our community and look forward to conducting a grassroots campaign."

Dollar fended off a primary challenge in 2012 from EAST COBBER magazine publisher Cynthia Rozzo in the heavily Republican District 45 (see map), which includes parts of East Cobb, Roswell and Sandy Springs.

The 2014 primary elections are scheduled for May 20.
