East Cobb Road Work Update

The big job of hauling massive beams to the Sope Creek Bridge project site went off without a hitch on Wednesday. 

But work to replace the aging bridge on Paper Mill Road continues through Oct. 25, as do the traffic issues that have come with it. 

The attached map illustrates the best detour routes in the East Cobb area to use until then, including Johnson Ferry Road and Old Canton Road as alternatives to a very clogged Lower Roswell Road. 

There's plenty of other road construction work planned for the coming week, with the following updates released Friday by Cobb commissioners Bob Ott and JoAnn Birrell: 

Shallowford Road Sidewalk Construction
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Sept. 7-8.

• Tanbark Place to Blackwell Road - Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday, Sept. 13. Contractor will continue water line, storm drainage installation, and grading for sidewalk.

Steinhauer Road at Rocky Mountain Road Sidewalks
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Sept. 7-8.

• Shallowford Road to Rocky Mountain Road - Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday, Sept. 13. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Project is substantially complete. Contractor will be working on punchlist items and utility relocations.

Timber Ridge Road Sidewalks Construction
Project consists of installing sidewalk on the north side of Timber Ridge Road.  A pedestrian bridge over Timber Ridge Branch is included as part of the project. The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, 
Sept. 7-8.

• Jacksons Creek Bluff to Lower Roswell Road - Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday, Sept. 13. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will continue grading, and placing sod.

• Holt Road to Old Canton Road – Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday,  Sept. 13. Contractor will begin installing storm drainage and water main. Utilities will be relocating services.

Lower Roswell Road Construction

Contractor is not planning to work this weekend – Sept. 7 and 8.

• Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway – Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday, Sept. 13. This section of Lower Roswell Road is substantially complete. Contractor is working on punch list.
• Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road – Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday, Sept. 13. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Willow Point Parkway and Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open. The contractor will continue grading, installing storm drainage, and work at roundabout. Utility relocations should not affect your service. EXPECT DELAYS.

Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction

The contractor is not planning to work this weekend – Sept. 7 and 8.

• Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass – Monday, Sept. 9 through Friday, Sept. 13. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Project is substantially complete. Contractor will be working on punch list including guardrail installation.
