East Cobb Road Work Update

Here's what projects will be continuing this week.

Paper Mill Road Bridge Replacement

  • Paper Mill Road Bridge at Sope Creek is closed through Oct. 25, 2013. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to National Park Service trails. A signed detour route (as shown in image) will be provided during construction. 
  • Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek  – Ongoing through Friday, July 5. The contractor will continue grading operations.

Progress on Paper Mill Road over Sope Creek Bridge. This project underway will widen the bridge to two lanes, add six foot sidewalk on the south side of the bridge for improved pedestrian accommodation connecting to the  National Park Service land.

Indian Hills Parkway at Eastside Elementary School

  • Indian Hills Parkway – Monday, July 1 through Friday, July 5. Contractor will continue grading, wall construction, and placing sidewalks. 

Lower Roswell Road Construction

  • Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway – Monday, July 1 through Friday, July 5. This section of Lower Roswell Road is substantially complete. Contractor is working on punch list.
  • Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road – Monday, July 1 through Friday, July 5. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Willow Point Parkway and Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open. The contractor will be grading, placing concrete curb and gutter. Utility relocations should not affect your service. EXPECT DELAYS.

Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction

  • Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass – Monday, July 1 through Friday, July 5. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open while the contractor continues wall construction and placing concrete sidewalk. Utility relocations should not affect your service.

Road Resurfacing

Asphalt paving operations are scheduled for Monday, July 1 through Friday, July 5** on the following roads. One lane will be open at all timesEXPECT DELAYS

  • Terrell Mill Road from Cobb Parkway (US41) to Powers Ferry Road
  • Windy Hill Road from Powers Ferry Road to Wildwood Parkway
  • Paces Ferry Road from Paces Mill Road to the Fulton County Line
  • Night Work – Interstate North Parkway from Windy Hill Road to Fulton County Line
  • Night Work – Windy Ridge Parkway from Powers Ferry Road to Windy Hill Road
  • Night Work – Windy Ridge Parkway Ext. from Windy Ridge Parkway to Windy Hill Road

 ** The above scheduled work is subject to change due to weather or construction progress.

I-285 Top-End Resurfacing Project - GDOT

Georgia DOT continues working on a $56 million resurfacing project on
I-285. Crews will resurface 10 miles of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Ashford Dunwoody Road in DeKalb County. Most work will take place on nights and weekends. The project is scheduled to be completed in August 2013.  EXPECT DELAYS.  Please click on the link for more information.

County offices closed for Fourth of July

Cobb County government offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in honor of the Independence Day holiday.

We will reopen for normal hours the following day, Friday, July 5
