East Cobb Road Work Update

The following information was provided by the offices of District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott and District 3 Commissioner JoAnn Birrell:

Paper Mill Road Bridge REPLACEMENT – EXPECT DELAYS WITH THE START OF SCHOOL

Paper Mill Road Bridge at Sope Creek is closed through Oct. 25. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to National Park Service trails. A signed detour route will be provided during construction. 

Now that school is in session expect extended delays on Lower Roswell Road (Detour Route). Plan for alternate routes during these hours. See attached map.

• Beam delivery scheduled for week of Sept. 2-6. Expect traffic stoppages on Johnson Ferry Road and Paper Mill Road on a single day during the week. Weather permitting.
• Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek  – Saturday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 30. The contractor will continue work on the new bridge substructure.

Lower Roswell Road Construction

Contractor is not planning to work this weekend – Aug. 24 and 25.

• Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway – Monday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 30. This section of Lower Roswell Road is substantially complete. Contractor is working on punch list.
• Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road – Monday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Willow Point Parkway and Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open. The contractor will continue grading, installing storm drainage and work at roundabout. Utility relocations should not affect your service. EXPECT DELAYS

The contractor is not planning to work this weekend – Aug. 24 and 25.

• Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass – Monday, Aug. 26, through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Project is substantially complete. Contractor will be working on punch list including guardrail installation.  

Timber Ridge Road Sidewalks Construction
Project consists of installing sidewalk on the north side of Timber Ridge Road.  A pedestrian bridge over Timber Ridge Branch is included as part of the project. The pedestrian bridge at Timber Ridge is almost ready for use.  Construction will be completed very soon. The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Aug. 24-25.

• Jacksons Creek Bluff to Lower Roswell Road - Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. The contractor will continue grading, storm drainage, and concrete work.

Shiloh Road at Shallowford Road Construction
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Aug. 24-25.

• Shiloh/Shallowford Road from Wade Green Road to Canton Road –Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor installs storm drainage, curb & gutter, sidewalk, water main, and utilities.
• Wade Green Road from Shiloh Road to I-75 ramps – Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor continues removing the concrete median and placing concrete curb. EXPECT DELAYS

Shallowford Road Sidewalk Construction
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Aug. 24-25.

• Tanbark Place to Blackwell Road - Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30. Contractor will continue water line, storm drainage installation, and grading for sidewalk.

• Shallowford Road to Rocky Mountain Road - Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Project is substantially complete. Contractor will be working on punchlist items and utility relocations.

Road Resurfacing

Asphalt paving operations are scheduled for next week, Saturday, Aug. 24 and Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30** on the following roads. One lane will be open at all times. EXPECT DELAYS

• Night Work – Johnson Ferry Road from Roswell Road to Lower Roswell Road.
