East Cobb Road Work Update

There will be some road construction work this weekend on Lower Roswell Road, east of Johnson Ferry Road.

The office of District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott released the following information about road work in the East Cobb area in the coming week, and other transportation-related projects in the near future: 

Lower Roswell Road Construction

The contractor is planning to work this weekend (March 2-3) on wall construction, but no lane closures are expected.

  • Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway, Monday, March 4, through Friday, March 8: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane open for your commute. The contractor will be grading and placing concrete. Weather Permitting – the contractor may continue asphalt paving between Hyde Road and Asheforde Drive. EXPECT DELAYS
  • Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road, Monday through Friday: Also, expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open for your commute. The contractor will be grading, installing storm drainage and water main. EXPECT DELAYS

Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction

The contractor is not planning to work this weekend (March 2-3).

  • Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass, Monday through Friday: Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Contractor will be placing concrete curb gutter and sidewalk. Utility companies will be relocating services which should not affect your service.

Johnson Ferry Road Utility Work

AGL will be repairing a section at Johnson Ferry Road near Lower Roswell Road on Monday, March 4. The two southbound outside lanes will be closed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. EXPECT DELAYS.

May 2013 Paper Mill Road Bridge Replacement

In May 2013, Cobb County Department of Transportation will begin work on replacing the bridge and adding a pedestrian bridge over Sope Creek on Paper Mill Road. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to the National Park Service trails. This project will result in closing Paper Mill Road at the bridge for approximately four months beginning once school breaks for the summer. Signed detour routes will be provided during construction. Additional detour information will be made available at a public information meeting in April. More details to come.

I-285 Top-End Resurfacing Project - GDOT

Georgia DOT continues working on a $56 million resurfacing project on I-285. Crews will resurface 10 miles of I-285 between Paces Ferry Road in Cobb County and Ashford Dunwoody Road in DeKalb County. Most work will take place nights and weekends. The project is scheduled to complete in August 2013. EXPECT DELAYS. Please click on the link for more information.

Detour scheduled for multi-use trail

Until Monday, March 11, sections of the Cochran Shoals multi-use loop trail will be detoured. The detour will be in place continuously throughout this time and will affect a 500-foot segment of the upland (northwest) side of the trail beginning at the Columns Drive parking lot.

The purpose of the detour is to ensure visitor safety during required maintenance of the Colonial Pipeline gas transmission easement. The work will replace a segment of the pipeline. For more information or updates, please contact the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area’s visitor center at 678-538-1200 or visit the park’s Web site at www.nps.gov/chat.
