East Cobb Man Gets 15 Years for Firing at Deputies

No one was injured in the January incident at Michael Lee Lightsey's Guilford Circle home.

An East Cobb man who allegedly threatened to kill three of his relatives and fired a rifle at Cobb sheriff’s deputies who attempted to arrest him pleaded guilty Monday to multiple charges in connection with the January incident.

Michael Lee Lightsey, 41, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on a peace officer; possession of a firearm during commission of a felony; and three counts of terroristic threats, said Kim Isaza, the spokeswoman for Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds.

While no one was injured during the shooting at Lightsey's Guilford Circle home, Cobb Superior Court Judge Mary Staley immediately sentenced him to 15 years, with six years to be served in prison, Isaza said.

Lightsey will essentially be under supervised release for the remaining nine years of his sentence "though some are concurrent and some are consecutive," Isaza said.
