Cobb Commisioners on Tuesday lowered the county millage rate from 7.72 to 7.52 mills, a move that is expected to result in reduced property tax bills.

The owner of a $100,000 home is expected to save $6; the owner of a $200,000 home is expected to save $14; and the owner of a $500,000 home is expected to save $38, according to The Marietta Daily Journal.

The new millage rate will be reflected on property tax bills due Oct. 15, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Voting in favor of the reduction were East Cobb-area commissioners Bob Ott and JoAnn Birrell.

Ott, who bitterly opposed a millage rate increase two years ago, urged Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee to work to further reduce the tax rate.
