The Cobb County Public Library System will add one evening hour to the Monday through Wednesday schedule at all 16 library locations starting this Monday, Jan. 6.
Here are more details on the new hours involving East Cobb-area libraries:
- Switzer Library, Mountain View Regional Library, South Cobb Regional Library, East Cobb Library and the West Cobb Regional Library will be open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- East Marietta, Gritters, Kemp Memorial, Kennesaw, Powder Springs, Stratton and Vinings will be open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The main Switzer Library branch on Roswell Street in downtown Marietta will be open on Sunday afternoons after Labor Day.
The new schedule is a change from the hours of operation in place since April 2011, when Cobb government budget cuts went into effect.
“We are happy about the new hours,” said Cobb library director Helen Poyer. “We’ve heard peoples' requests for additional evening and weekend hours, and it’s nice to be able to meet the demand for library services.”
