Cobb Chairman, TSPLOST Forums Tuesday

Cobb citizens will have to make a choice between competing public meetings on hot-button items on the July 31 primary ballot.

On Tuesday night, Cobb citizens will have their pick between two important forums, which they can watch from the comfort of their homes.

From 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, the four Cobb Commission Chairman candidates– all Republican middle-aged men– will have another shot to let Cobb voters know who they are and what they stand for at the Cobb County Civic Coalition's forum, which can be viewed live on Cobb County's TV23 and online at www.cobbcounty.org/tv23 or TV23 on Livestream.

Members of the public are also invited to attend the forum in person at the Commissioners Meeting Room at 100 Cherokee St. in Marietta.

Also, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Public Broadcasting Atlanta hosts a live one-hour online debate about the controversial TSPLOST or Transportation Investment Act, a measure to improve various transportation projects of a 10-county region which would be funded by a 1 percent sales tax. The forum will stream live at WABE.org.

Forum participants will be Steve Brown of the Transportation Leadership Coalition, Jeff Dickerson of Citizens for Transportation Mobility and Jane Hayse of the Atlanta Regional Commission. The debate will be moderated by WABE's Charles Edwards.
