Cobb Board OKs Study on Braves Stadium Shuttle

A variety of issues will be examined including what type of vehicle would be used, the annual cost of operations; the best route; and where vehicle stops should be located.

The Cobb Board of Commissioners on Tuesday unanimously approved a $445,000 contract with San Francisco-based URS Corp. to perform a study on implementing a shuttle service that would serve the Cumberland area.

The possible bus circular system could potentially shuttle Atlanta Braves fans between the team’s proposed Cobb-based stadium and parking area at the Galleria Centre.

Cobb Department of Transportation Director Faye DiMassimo told the board that 80 percent of the total project cost will be covered by federal transit grants, while the remainder ($89,002) would come from the 2011 SPLOST Transportation Improvements Program Fund.
