Warrant: Underage Drug Use, Drinking Allowed in Ardsley Court Home

John and Amy Contarino were arrested on a total of 58 charges that range from first degree cruelty to children to possession of dangerous drugs.

An East Cobb couple allegedly gave their 17-year-old daughter and other teenagers permission to use the family's home as a "hangout" to drink alcohol and use drugs.

When Cobb authorities executed a search warrant at 3791 Ardsley Ct., they found numerous prescription pills as well as used, uncapped syringes scattered throughout John and Amy Contarino's house, according to Cobb arrest warrants.

The couple was "aware of the copious amounts of narcotics and alcohol usage by teenage and young adults within the residence," according to the warrants. "Accused helped to furnish and encouraged the narcotics and alcohol usage within the residence."

John and Amy Contarino were arrested July 30 on a total of 58 charges that range from first degree cruelty to children to possession of dangerous drugs, according to online jail records.

After they were handcuffed and placed in the rear of the patrol car, John and Amy Contarino were allegedly recorded on audio and video making statements "showing that they were aware of and taking part in illegal activities with their 17-year--old daughter," according to the warrants.

In one exchange, the couple allegedly told their daughter to not talk to police.

"As the 17-year-old became more upset and began to state that she wished to go home," according to the warrants, "accused continued to badger her and blame her for the police presence to the point that the 17-year-old began to hyperventilate."

Three other people, all of them from East Cobb, were arrested at John and Amy Contarino's home, according to online jail records. All of them were released Wednesday from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Anna Turpin faces 18 charges, most of them possession-related offenses. She was released on $5,000 bond. Conner Turpin was booked on one count each of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. He was released on $1,500 bond.

Anna and Conner Turpin are both under the age of 18, records show.

Malcolm J. Collins was arrested on one count of willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He was released on $2,000 bond.

John and Amy Contarino each remain in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $75,000 bond.
