Waffle House Suspects Caught in Ala.

Two men arrested after another robbery in Calera are believed to be behind all of the recent Waffle House capers, including one in East Cobb.

Two men suspected in a rash of robberies of Waffle House restaurants in metro Atlanta, including , were arrested Saturday in Calera, AL, after police said they struck another Waffle House there, according to multiple media reports.

Edwin Mitchell, 21, and DeAngelo Heard, 19, both from Ellenwood, are being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office website.

The two were caught after a Waffle House robbery in Calera at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Calera police also recovered a handgun used in the holdup, 11 Alive reported.

The TV station said the two men are charged with first-degree robbery, theft of property and second-degree attempted robbery.

The Calera robbery fit the pattern of 18 other Waffle House robberies the past two weeks in six Atlanta-area counties, LaGrange and Auburn, AL, the AJC said. In each case, the heist took place between 2 and 6 a.m., usually after the culprits ordered food.

In Thursday’s robbery of the on Delk Road at Powers Ferry Road, a man ate and paid for his meal before pulling a gun and demanding the money from the cash register, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

The Calera robbery fit the pattern, and the men fit the description of the earlier culprits. Norcross police Sgt. Bill Grogan told the Gwinnett Daily Post that the two men held in Shelby County are the men wanted in the robberies in Cobb, Gwinnett and other Atlanta-area counties.
