A 13-year-old girl lost a portion of her left leg as a result of being hit by a sliding car on Herodian Way in east Cobb County on Thursday.
Cobb Fire Department spokeswoman Denell Boyd confirmed to Patch the incident that occurred shortly after 1 p.m. off Circle 75 Parkway near where the new Atlanta Braves stadium is scheduled to be built.
The girl, whose name has not been released, was with her mother, grandmother, and another teenage girl, when their car got stuck on the icy road. After exiting the vehicle to help push the car, she was hit by another vehicle that was unable to stop due to the road conditions.
According to Boyd, she was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where her leg was amputated below the kneecap. WSB AM-750 reported early Friday morning that doctors were hopeful the leg could be saved.
It is unclear at this point if police will file charges in the incident.
