Second Fire at East Cobb Condo

Firefighters are on the scene of the Willows by the River community on Riverlook Parkway, said Lt. Dan Dupree, the spokesman for the agency.

For the second time, Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services crews are battling a blaze at an East Cobb condominium complex.

Firefighters are on the scene of the Willows by the River community on Riverlook Parkway, said Lt. Dan Dupree, the spokesman for the agency.

"One of residents of the second or third floor said that she thought there was a fire in the unit below her," he said. "That was at 2:54 p.m. when we got the 911 call."

The first unit arrived on the scene at 3:03 p.m.

"We started evacuating all the units and started attacking the fire, trying to knock the fire from the outside because there's too much on the inside," Dupree said.

At least 10 units have been affected by the fire, Dupree said. There are no known injuries.

Dupree said crews will be on the scene for "several more hours."

In December, all 10 units of the three-story building were damaged by smoke, and several were heavily damaged by fire. The most extensive damage was done to the middle of the building, where the roof collapsed.
