Report: East Cobb Mom Shot 15 Times

May Whitty was a longtime bus driver serving East Side Elementary School.

The Marietta Daily Journal is reporting today that May Carole Whitty, the East Cobb woman slain over the weekend at her home, was shot 15 times by her son.

The newspaper cited a criminal warrant indicating that Mario Nathaniel Dorce, 23, used a 9mm pistol last Saturday morning, and stopped to reload his weapon. 

Whitty, 52, was found by Cobb police of her home off Post Oak Tritt Road and was pronounced dead on the scene. The MDJ report said Dorce shot her over religious issues but did not elaborate.

Cobb police said Dorce confessed to the crime. He was arrested at the scene of the crime Saturday and is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

"A special woman with an incredible attitude, who always had a smile on her face," Lisa Tymann McDonough wrote Thursday morning on East Cobb Patch's Facebook page. "She will be greatly missed."
