Fire Alert Issued in Cobb

The National Weather Service has released a fire danger statement because of weather that may increase the risk of fires.

The National Weather Service issued a fire danger statement for central and north Georgia through Tuesday because low humidity and high wind makes for perfect conditions for brush fires.

No outdoor burning permits were issued Monday. Firefighters say this year’s dry winter could mean an active brush fire season.

"Cobb Fire goes by the information by the wind speed...if 10 above we suggest no burning whatsoever. It should be understood that the strong winds will rapidly spread any fire," spokeswoman Denell Boyd told Patch.
