Motorcyclist Dies After I-75 Police Chase

Chatsworth man killed after high-speed pursuit ends near Windy Hill Road.

An Interstate 75 chase that started in Kennesaw ended in death early today when a Chatsworth motorcycle rider was killed in a wreck on the Windy Hill Road exit ramp in East Cobb.

Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said Ramon Mares, 30, was pronounced dead at the crash scene near the I-75 southbound ramp onto Windy Hill Road, Exit 260.

Around 12:30 a.m., Pierce said, a Cobb police morning watch officer tried to make a traffic stop on a 1991 Suzuki GSX-R1000 traveling south through Kennesaw on I-75 near Barrett Parkway. The rider, whom police suspected of being impaired, didn't stop and instead raced down the interstate, traveling in excess of 120 mph.
