Marietta Police Seek Vehicle in Fatal Hit-and-Run

A Kia Spectra allegedly struck a pedestrian Friday morning on North Marietta Parkway between I-75 and Wallace Road.

An unidentified 20-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run accident early Friday morning on the North Marietta Parkway near Interstate 75, and police are looking for the vehicle that struck him.

Marietta Police said late Friday afternoon that they believe a four-door Kia Spectra, built between 2007 and 2009 and either a hatchback or coupe model, was involved in the accident that took place around 3:10 am.

The vehicle is believed to have front end damage to the right passenger side, police said.

Police said the victim, whose name has not yet been made public, was walking westbound along North Marietta Parkway between I-75 and Wallace Road in a right-turn only lane on the far right side of the road when he was hit from behind. The vehicle then left the scene, according to police.

The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, and police say there are no known witnesses to the accident.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the Kia Spectra is asked to contact Marietta Police Officer Geoff Culpepper at 770-794-5357.
