Marietta Motel 6 Robber Sought

Marietta Police said the suspect took cash from the register of the Delk Road location Thursday.

A Delk Road motel was robbed earlier this week and Marietta Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspect.

Marietta Police spokesman David Baldwin said in a release issued Sunday morning that a man held up the Motel 6 Northwest Marietta, 2360 Delk Road, around 10 a.m. Thursday.

The suspect is described as a black male, six feet tall and between 170-180 pounds. He has low cut hair and was wearing rimmed prescription glasses, according to Baldwin.

Police said a man approached the motel's front desk, telling the clerk he had a gun in his jacket pocket and demanded money from the register.

After handing over the cash, the clerk fled into an office area and out a back exit. The suspect then chased the clerk, who was able to escape unharmed.

Baldwin said the suspect was last seen in the parking lot of the Motel 6 on foot walking toward Delk Road.

Although the suspect did not visibly produce a firearm during the robbery, Marietta Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who has seen him should call 911, and anyone with other information on the incident is asked to call the Marietta Police Anonymous Tip Line at 770-794-6990.
