Marietta Hit-and-Run Suspect Charged

A 20-year-old pedestrian died after he was struck along the North Marietta Parkway early Friday.

The suspect in a fatal hit-and-run accident on the North Marietta Parkway last week is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Tanner Lee Bertram, 22, of Acworth, is being held without bond after being charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, a felony, and misdemeanor hit and run.

The Marietta Daily Journal reported Bertram turned himself in on Monday.

Marietta Police said a male pedestrian was walking in a right-turn lane on the westbound side of the North Marietta Parkway near Interstate 75 and Wallace Road shortly after 3 a.m. Friday when he was hit from behind by a Kia Spectra.

The vehicle then left the scene, according to police.

The MDJ said the victim was identified as Matthew Tyner, 20, of Marietta. Police said he died after being taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.
