MMA Couple Dead in Murder-Suicide

 are investigating a murder-suicide at a house on Springdale Drive.

The bodies of 28-year-old Wilbur Carl South and his girlfriend, 32-year-old Mary Ellen Cano,  they shared in the 900 block of Springdale Drive on Wednesday night.

Investigators determined South shot Cano and then killed himself, 11Alive says. The couple had a history of domestic violence.

South and Cano were mixed martial arts fighters who have appeared on fight cards at Wild Bill's in Duluth, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. South fought under the name Sonny "The Pitbull" South.

He had been fighting since 2008, and Cano began fighting in 2009. They had been dating for about two years, the AJC says.

Police visited the house at the request of Cano's father, who told them he had not had heard from his daughter in more than two days.
