Report: Suspect 'smiling, joking' after Saturday morning shooting death at residence in Post Oak Tritt Road area.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with the shooting death of an East Cobb woman Saturday morning.

Mario Nathaniel Dorce, of Marietta, is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to Cobb Police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman.

May Carole Whitty, 52, was found dead of a gunshot wound by police, whom Bowman said arrived her residence at 2639 Tritt Springs Trace, a quiet residential street located off Post Oak Tritt Road, shortly before 9 a.m. Saturday.

Police did not indicate the relationship of the victim to Dorce, but according to a WSB-TV report earlier Saturday neighbors identified a suspect at the scene as Whitty's son.

One neighbor said the suspect, who was unidentified in the report, "was back in the cop car laughing, smiling, joking, singing songs and just acting a little crazy."
