Man Charged in East Cobb Molestation

A Tae Kwon Do instructor has been arrested for sexual relations with a female minor at his East Piedmont Road business.

A Roswell man has been jailed for aggravated child molestation for acts involving a young girl at his home and his East Cobb Tae Kwan Do school.

In a release issued Thursday morning, Cobb Police spokesman Officer Michael Bowman said Young Jin Shim, 32, was being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. 

Bowman said the suspect was arrested late Wednesday after a female minor reported that she had been having a sexual relationship with him.

Police said the victim claimed the activity occurred at the suspect's Roswell home and at Shim's Marietta Martial Arts Academy of Taekwando at 2518 East Piedmont Road. The girl was a student at the academy, according to police, who did not give her age. 

Shim's Cobb Sheriff's Office booking report also indicates he is being held on charges of statutory rape, aggravated sexual battery and enticing a child.

According to the academy's website, the suspect has owned the business since 2004, and is a 6th degree Black Belt. 

Bowman said anyone with information about this incident or other criminal activity that may have taken place at the academy call the Cobb Police Crimes Against Children Unit at 770-801-3470.
