Hazmat Probe at East Cobb Apartment
The discovery of a body and chemical substances shut down part of the Jefferson Lakeside complex Thursday afternoon.
A portion of a Roswell Road apartment complex was closed off Thursday afternoon as Cobb fire and police officials investigated a possible suicide using potentially hazardous chemicals.
Around 1 p.m., maintenance crews at the Jefferson Lakeside complex discovered a dead body, surrounded by an undetermined mix of substances, according to various news reports.
Cobb Fire Department spokesman Lt. Dan Dupree was quoted by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution in describing the scene as "suicide by hazmat," and that the maintenance workers were being quarantined.

WSB-TV reported that the workers were complaining of skin burns.
The deceased man has not been identified, and the AJC also reported that Cobb Police cannot retrieve the body until the scene is cleared.
