Gunfire at Party Leaves One Dead and Another Injured

Police say an argument began when unwanted guests showed up to a party in Marietta Tuesday night.

A party at a Marietta apartment complex was crashed Tuesday night when gunfire broke out, killing one party-goer and injuring another.

WSB TV reported that a group of at least 60 people attended a party at The Dwells @750 Apartments located at 750 Franklin Road.

Marietta police spokesman David Baldwin said four or five unwanted guests arrived at the party, starting a fight with some of the party goers. One of the party-crashers pulled out a gun and started shooting into the crowd.

Three men were taken to the hospital by someone at the party.

Police said Christopher Wilson, 19, of Marietta died at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Chauncey Martin, 19, and Malik Philips, 18, are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

While police detained several people for questioning, authorities have no description of the shooters.

The Marietta Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact Detective Christopher Lindsey at 770-794-5369 or the Marietta Police Department Anonymous Tip Line at 770-794-6990.
