Officer Injured in East Cobb Chase

Three suspects have been arrested after a pursuit that began with reported gunfire in Fox Hills and continued down Lower Roswell Road, ending at the Eastgate Shopping Center.

Updated: 6:40 p.m.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that two people at a home on Lamplighter Lane in the Fox Hills subdivision were struck by gunfire when three suspects entered their residence Wednesday morning.

Both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to Cobb Police.

Original report:

Cobb Police are investigating a possible shooting at a home in the Fox Hills neighborhood Wednesday morning and a pursuit down Lower Roswell Road that ended at the Eastgate Shopping Center.

Cobb Police Spokesman Officer Mike Bowman issued a statement around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday saying that the unidentified victim was taken to a hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries" and that the three suspects who led the chase have been arrested.

The identities of the victim and the suspects have not yet been released.

Bowman said Cobb 911 dispatchers received numerous calls late this morning in response to hearing shots fired and cars racing near a home on Lamplighter Lane, which is located off Huntsman Way and Shadowlawn Road.

The chase continued westbound on Lower Roswell Road until the silver Dodge sedan carrying the suspects was forced to stop by police at the intersection of Lower Roswell and the South Marietta Parkway, Bowman said. He said that the suspects then fled the vehicle on foot and into the parking lot at the nearby Eastgate Shopping Center.

Bowman said a Cobb officer fell and seriously injured his leg during the pursuit but all three suspects were apprehended at the scene. Bowman said the officer, who was not named, also was taken to a hospital.

"We still don't know what transpired" at the Fox Hills residence, Bowman said, in response to questions about a possible home invasion.

Cobb police are continuing the investigation.

Please return to East Cobb Patch for updated information, including a full video report, later today.

This was the 3rd invasion in that neighborhood in the past 6 months
Wendy Parker (Editor) April 18, 2012 at 06:49 PM
Terry, do know what happened in the other incidents?
Artie April 18, 2012 at 07:31 PM
There have been several home breakends during the day in surrounding neighborhoods as well. Let's hope these are the same guys,

I noticed on the CCPD page that there was a forced entry on Fox Hills Dr. 4/11/12. (Case #: 12039379 if you need it).

Really? why what happened in the past? i'd like to see the previous incidents
S Null April 18, 2012 at 11:32 PM
No, this is the third break-in. There were no other home invasions in this neighborhood.
S Null April 18, 2012 at 11:34 PM
That is incorrect. There have been two other break-ins in the neighborhood in the past six months. A home invasion is much more serious.

As a Fox Hills resident, I received an awareness email recently from our HOA stating a home on Fox Hills Drive was entered by kicking in the front door. The email also stated that was a similar entry as a previous (I assume the first break-in mentioned here) invasion and that similar items were taken. Thanks to the FHHOA for doing what they can to keep us as informed as they can. Maybe Pct. 4 will finally take us seriously and patrol more often. (doubt it) Also, thank you ECP for all of your pertinent reporting.

I live in this neighborhood - can you give me more information on the 3 other invasions - I had not heard of them??
Wendy Parker (Editor) April 20, 2012 at 01:30 PM
Thanks Julie. Any way you could get us in touch with the people at the homeowners association?

I live on Shadowlawn Rd. I heard about this via the news. I drove through the neighborhood the next day and asked a man walking his dog about the incident. He told me this was the third break-in. I would like to know how I can get information about crime @ here, since I don't live in a neighborhood, per se. Thanks
