East Cobb Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident

He left the roadway for unknown reasons.

A 19-year-old East Cobb man was killed in a single-vehicle accident early this morning at the intersection of Johnson Ferry and Shallowford roads.

Nicholas W. Woltering was driving a green 1995 Ford Ranger truck when he left the roadway about 12:57 a.m. today and struck a large wood and concrete sign on the northeast corner of the intersection, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a statement.

Authorities do not know what prompted Woltering to leave the roadway. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital and pronounced dead, Pierce said.
