Death of Cobb Student Found in UGA Dorm Ruled Accidental

The Athens-Clarke County Coroner has confirmed that Marietta's David Peacock Braun's accidental death was caused by the ingestion of a lethal dose of fentanyl.

The University of Georgia Police Department released new details on Wednesday about a 2011 Kell High School graduate who was found dead in his dormitory room in January.

The Athens-Clarke County Coroner has confirmed that Marietta's David Peacock Braun’s accidental death was caused by the ingestion of a lethal dose of fentanyl. Authorities described fentanyl is a narcotic pain reliever and there has been an upswing in fentanyl-related overdoses across the county.

Braun, who passed on January 14, 2014 at the age of 21, was a junior at UGA majoring in psychology and computer science and was on an academic scholarship. He played soccer both in the Cobb area and in Athens.
