Cops: East Cobb Resident Kicks Man with Dementia

The alleged incident occurred at a Smyrna facility for mentally challenged and disabled adults.

An employee at a Smyrna facility for mentally challenged and disabled adults allegedly kicked a man with dementia in the groin area three times.

The man was sitting on the floor with his arms raised and his legs spread apart when Edward Perez Neal of East Cobb allegedly kicked him in attempt to get him "to stand up," according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.

Perez worked at CHOICES 2 at the time of the alleged incident, which occurred just before 2 p.m. March 14 and was witnessed by a another client support worker at the facility, records show.

Neal was arrested Monday evening on charges of simple battery and abuse, neglect or exploitation of a disabled or elderly person. He was released from the Cobb County Adult Detention Center early Tuesday morning on a $3,500 bond.
