According to Marietta police, a Cobb man has been charged with murder in connection with a shooting at a Marietta apartment complex party last week.

Blaylan Christopher Phillips, 20, of Marietta, has been charged with felony murder for the homicide that took the life of 19-year-old Christopher Wilson, said Officer David Baldwin.

The shooting took pace after a group of at least 60 people attended a party at The Dwells @750 Apartments located at 750 Franklin Road.

Baldwin said previously that four or five unwanted guests arrived at the party, and starting a fight with some of the party goers. One of the party-crashers, allegedly Phillips, pulled out a gun and started shooting into the crowd.

Police said Wilson died at Kennestone Hospital. Chauncey Martin, 19, and Malik Philips, 18, who is not related to the gunman, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Cobb County jail records, Blaylan Phillips was arrested Saturday at his apartment. On Monday, he remained in the Cobb County jail, where he was being held without bond.

So sad, another young life gone. Wonder when Marietta and Cobb county will clean up/ bulldoze Franklin Rd? Seems beyond rehabilitation.
