An Eventful Week at the Neuman Trial

The former East Cobb resident's murder trial in the Dunwoody Prep shooting of Russell Sneiderman is drawing national interest.

The murder trial of former East Cobb resident Hemy Neuman got underway this week, with plenty of intrigue occurring on the witness stand and the courtroom and that has generated national media attention.

On Sunday The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted Andrea Sneiderman's attorney as saying that the widow of murder victim Russell Sneiderman "knew she was going to get beaten up on the witness stand." But she did so, attorney Seth Kirschenbaum said, to help the prosecution.

On her first day of testimony under prosecution questioning, Andrea Sneiderman she and Neuman, her supervisor at a GE Energy engineering unit in East Cobb, were having an affair.

But other questions about her knowledge of the shooting have been raised. And on Thursday, she was kept out of the courtroom for engaging with witnesses.

With alleged workplace adultery and Neuman's insanity plea jumbled into the trial, it's easy to understand why national television and other media outlets -- including overseas -- have focused attention on what's transpiring inside the DeKalb Superior Courthouse in Decatur.

Especially after Neuman's attorneys contended an angel who looked like Olivia Newton-John ordered him to shoot Sneiderman, and that Neuman claimed he was also visited by a demon who looked like Barry White.

The trial resumes at 9 a.m. Monday with Andrea Sneiderman expected to continue her testimony.
