2 Powder Springs Burglars Caught in Separate Incidents

Police arrested a 13-year-old on Ten Oaks Circle on Monday, and a 19-year-old on Mistymorn Lane on Wednesday.

Powder Springs police caught two burglars this week—one arrested afterward, the other in the act.

On Monday, a woman called police after she saw someone walk behind a neighboring house on Ten Oaks Circle, and return with a weed eater and extension cord. Witnesses helped police discover that a 13-year-old boy from the neighborhood was the culprit, according to a news release from the department.

When police tried to take him into custody, he took off but was captured shortly after on charges of burglary and obstruction of officers, the release says. The weed eater and cord were given back to the owner.

On Wednesday, a resident of Mistymorn Lane called after witnessing three “suspicious people” enter a nearby home. Police arrived in the 4000 block shortly after to see the three fleeing.

One of them, 19-year-old Symone Jean-Baptiste of Powder Springs, was caught and charged with burglary, a felony. She remained at the Cobb jail Friday on a $11,220 bond.

While searching for other suspects in the burglarized house, which had a broken door, police found marijuana, Chief Charlie Sewell said. Police then went to get a warrant to further search the house and discovered the drug both growing and harvested.

“This case is still under investigation and additional arrests are anticipated,” the release says.
